School Changes for September 2001

District 1 - No Changes

District 2 - No Changes

District 3 - No Changes

District 4 - St. George’s Elementary in Burnt Islands (004 093) will be closing. The students from this school will be attending Grandy’s River Collegiate (004 092). Therefore Grandy’s River will now offer grades K-12.

St. Anne’s Elementary in Flat Bay East (004 100) will be closing. The students will be attending Our Lady of Mercy Elementary in St. George’s (004 115).

Assumption High in Stephenville Crossing (004 122) will be closing. The students will be attending St. Joseph’s High in St. George’s (004 116). The name of St. Joseph’s may change.

District 5 - La Rochelle Academy in Brent’s Cove (005 136) will be closing. The students will be attending Hillside Elementary in La Scie (005 154).

Please ensure that school number 142 in Grand Falls - Windsor is named Woodland Primary. Apparently some people are still referring to it by the previous name.

District 6 - No Changes

District 7 - Marystown Central High in Marystown (007219) to become a grade 10 - 12 school. Students previously enrolled in grades 7-9 at Marystown Central High and those in grades 8-9 at Berney Memorial Intermediate school will be attending Pierce Regional High in Burin Bay Arm (007 209). The name of Pierce Regional High may change. (i.e. Berney Memorial Intermediate Building/School is closing).

The students in Marian Elementary in St. Lawrence (007 227) and St. Lawrence Central High (007 228) will be recorded as attending one school. This school will use the St. Lawrence Central High number (007 228) and will house students in grades K-12.

District 8 - St. Michael’s School in Arnold’s Cove (008 230), Our Savior King Academy (008 244) and R. K. Gardner, Sunnyside (008 245) are closing. The students in these schools will be going to Tricentia Academy in Arnold’s Cove (008 924). Tricentia will offer grades K-12. The address for Tricentia will be P. O. Box 129 Arnold’s Cove, NF A0B 1A0

Anthony Paddon in Musgravetown(008 237) will become K-6. The 7-9 students will go to Heritage Collegiate (see below). Anthony Paddon will also be taking in the K-6 students from L. R Ash.

L. R. Ash Elementary in Lethbridge (008 236), and Musgravetown High School in Musgravetown (008 238) will be closing. The students in these schools will be attending Heritage Collegiate in Lethbridge (008 471). The school will offer grades 7-12 and the address will be P. O. Box 40, Lethbridge, NF A0C 1V0.

District 9 - St Anne’s in Conception Harbour (009 261) will be closing. Grade 4 students will be attending Immaculate Conception in Colliers. Grades 5 and 6 students will be attending Holy Cross in Holyrood and Roncalli in Avondale.

District 10 - St. Teresa’s School in St. John’s will be called St. Teresa's School/Ecole Ste-ThérPse (010 362)

St. Pius X Elementary in St. John’s will be called Rennie’s River Elementary School (010 360)

District 11 - Our Lady Queen of Peace (011 462) and Clases françaises (011 462) will be combining. The new school will be called Ecolé française de Goose Bay (011 472). It will offer Grades K-8. The temporary address will be Box 665 Stn. A, 5th Wing, Goose Bay A0B 1S0.
